Take a journey into new digital possibilities at Cloud Expo Europe 2017

Women in Technology

Promoting equality and diversity through exposure and awareness

WITThis year Closerstill Media will be shining a spotlight on one of the technology industry’s most pressing issues: the under-representation of women. The world’s leading tech companies’ employ a workforce that is 70% male, and only about 15% of their technical positions are held by female employees.

Our approach

That’s why Closerstill Media is inviting some of the most inspiring female leaders in technology to take to the stage and share their experiences with young and enterprising women, and their male co-workers. Through engaging panel discussions, our speakers will tackle the subject of gender disparity in the sector, reveal what motivates their passion for technology, and explain how, through unity, we can improve the tech landscape for everyone.

A source of unlimited potential

By raising awareness on every level, from education to the hiring of new employees, our speakers aim to change the status quo, opening the way for millions of women to join the ever expanding world of technology. And in light of the impending digital skills gap time bomb, there has never been a better time to harness the untapped potential of future female industry leaders, wherever they may be.

After all, given the omnipresent nature of technology in today’s world, it only makes sense that the entirety of the population needs to be fairly represented in the industry.

Women leaders – changing the face of technology

“We need to work across boundaries”

Susanne Chishti – CEO, FINTECH Circle

"I believe strongly that it is the responsibility of women across the globe that have achieved success in the digital and IT sector to give something back. Together we can capture the imagination of young women and give them the confidence to believe they can create the great tech innovations that will define our future."

Baroness Joanna Shields – Minister for Internet Safety & Security

“12 trillion dollars could be added to global GDP by 2025, by advancing women’s equality”

Emma Boyle – Chair at Women Leaders in Technology, Cloud Expo Europe 2016

"Female representation on FTSE 100 boards has increased from 12.5% in 2011 to 23.5% in 2015 so while things are changing, sexism is holding back over 50% of the population from reaching the very top."

Jacqueline de Rojas – TechUK President & as Area VP, Northern Europe for Citrix

“The Women in Tech panel impressed me the most and I’m so glad that I didn’t miss this fantastic discussion!”

Asha Hemrajani – Member of Board of Directors, ICANN

"Spend 10% of your time telling people what you have done. A lot of women say ‘my team’. Every once in a while it’s OK to switch those pronouns and take some credit for yourself. Turn up the volume on interactions so that your good ideas get heard, you move the business forward and you move yourself forward in your career."

Jane Moran – CIO, Unilever
