Hi, I’m Martyn and I am a Technology/Development Lead for Vodafone.
During my studies at the University of Portsmouth I completed a placement year working for Telefonica I+D in Madrid, Spain developing pay-as-you-go systems in C++ it was here that I found my love for development.
As soon as I had completed my Computer Engineering degree I started as a junior PHP developer for a small start-up company. The time at the start-up was a little over a year but I learned a lot especially as I was the only employee. From there I spent most of my career climbing the corporate ladder at a big global cosmetics company starting from Developer working my way up to Development Team Lead, earning many accolades along the way. Initial working in PHP but then towards the latter years shifted my focus to Java. In 2021 I decide to move company and I joined Vodafone as a Lead Developer. Recently, I’ve found myself drawn away from Development and more into technical architecture and DevOps. I love to explore new tech especially when it comes to making developers lives. I’m a keen advocate for micro-services and all things DevOps, gone are the days of deploying a monolith application and praying to the gods that you did remember to switch the configuration from test to prod!
