Container management strategies - Realise application agility at enterprise scale
Cloud native development using containers and microservices is helping organisations to quickly develop and deploy innovative solutions into their markets and for their customers. Some typical benefits expected include portability between hybrid and multicloud environments, a reduction in infrastructure to be managed, optimisation of software licensing and a reduction operating costs.
However, as proof of concepts and MVP's evolve, organisations must start to consider their strategy for managing container based applications at real scale.
This session will explore some of the questions organisations must ask before choosing between a managed container platform or building and operating one themselves, including:
- Does your container service require an onsite deployment, or can/should it be deployed in the public cloud?
- Does your IT department have the necessary skills to design, deploy and administer a Kubernetes based environment
- What’s required to train or retain them?
- What are the implications of the public cloud platform where you need to deploy containers?
