Tom Leyden recently joined DataDirect Networks to drive the company’s product marketing for the WOS Object Storage platform. Over the past 3 years, Tom has been educating the market about the benefits of and opportunities with Object Storage. During this time he has built strong relations with key influential press and analysts and became a thought leader for Object Storage technologies.
Tom has over 15 years of experience working for disruptive technology providers, including five years in the storage industry. He has been involved in several successful startups, such as data deduplication pioneer DataCenter Technologies (acquired by Veritas-Symantec), cloud innovator Q-layer (acquired by Sun Microsystems) and Object Storage provider Amplidata.
After the Q-layer acquisition, Tom spent 2 years at Sun Microsystems and Oracle, in the Sun Cloud and Oracle OVM product management teams. At the time, Tom was one of the earliest cloud computing evangelists; shifting his focus to object storage and big data was a natural and logic process. Tom was co-founder of CloudCamp, a very successful initiative that helped to popularize the cloud paradigm in a unique “unconference” format.
Tom is often asked as a speaker to educate technology audiences on upcoming trends and paradigms. He also likes to share his thoughts on his blog (http://tleyden.sys-con.com/) and tweets (@Tomme) about technology and industry trends.
