
Stavros has a strong academic record which includes a PhD in grid and cloud computing architecture followed by extensive work on European projects CoreGRID and GridComp on distributed systems design, data modelling, and dependability.
Early 2009 he joined Fujitsu Laboratories of Europe, as a senior researcher, working in the areas of cloud integration and management, as well as cloud application modelling and development.
In early 2011 he left R&D behind and moved to Merrill Lynch where he is now responsible for the design and delivery of electronic trading applications to the central trading desk in EMEA, including portfolio optimisation, automatic unwinding engines, and algorithmic portfolio trading.
Stavros has been a member in IEEE and OGF for many years and he has been very active in cloud standards development, where he has co-chaired a Technical Committee in OASIS. He has authored and presented many papers; has participated in review and program committees of numerous conferences and journals; and has been frequently invited to give talks and expert opinions.
